"‘Dreams Have Meaning’ blends super-saturated beats with quirky pop charm and a touch of alt flair. It’s a pastel-coloured kaleidoscope of sound — equal parts The Beatles, OK Go, and Tori Amos — twisting and twirling with whimsy, leaving you a little dizzy in the best way." - The Point Music News

"Quarter Short captures a visceral weight through that super-fuzzy bass and thick, enveloping synths — but it’s her voice that slices clean through the haze. There’s power and fragility in equal measure, and when the choruses hit, she lifts right above the density with effortless control. It Keeps channels a Tidal-era Fiona Apple energy — dark, dangerous, yet slinky and unmistakably feminine — a tug-of-war between self-awareness and transcendence. It’s a track that wants to break free from the limits of flesh and bone, to evolve into something greater. A killer first single, and easily one of our favourite debuts of 2025." - The Point Music News

    Object Writing: Castle

The day began wet, leaking down tiled roofs and meeting in puddles wherever the soil failed to direct it away. Days of rain threatened the porous pages of the books stacked upon my bedside table. In cool corners moisture gathered…

    About

    Quarter Short

Quarter Short, a Meanjin/Brisbane-based soloist, released her disarmingly sophisticated debut EP, No Sense, at the end of 2025. In the words of The Point Music News ‘Quarter Short channels shades of Kate Bush, Regina Spektor, Fiona Apple and Hayley Williams without ever slipping into imitation . Between its walls sit brilliantly quirky alt-pop moments — Beck-like in their playfulness, nodding to The Beatles’ experimental detours — but always distinctly her own. Multifaceted without ever overwhelming, No Sense is a whirlwind of self-awareness and acceptance, and one of the most compelling, hook-laced listens of 2025.’

No Sense is out now on Bandcamp and wherever you stream your music.
