The water had sat on the stove for three days watching the sun groan into morning then tip wearily into night. As small clusters of minuscule bacteria snacked away at the dregs of the meal cooked Tuesday evening the water lay stagnant, spoiled with entertainment as it slowly began to fog over. There were still a few more days before it would be completely blinded. It marvelled at its makers who rushed about in constant panic…

You may think my inspiration was that the “spoiled with entertainment” but I was actually thinking spoiled food. The water had spoiled after being used to cook who knows what! Right before I started writing I thought it would be nice just to go from the water's perspective though, and it bloody well was! Highly recommend.
