As she took in the landscape of tailored garden beds, manicured monolithic trees, the hum of water sprinkling into a pond flush with goldfish as large as a loaf of bread, she could only assume this is what people called an Estate. Her hands fidgeted, plucking at her shirt hem as she watch busy wide brim hats tilted against the sun shuffling with the movements of the works below their brims. Her eyes caught on a shed where another wide brimmed worked had emerged with a wheelbarrow

I have been away for a hot minute due to colds and flus that generously swept through our household and left with our sensibilities. We're mostly recovered now. 

This one was really fun to write. I noticed as I was writing I was more considerate of the perspective that I was seeing this “estate”. My first thought was “so this is what people call an estate” and what follows is more questions: what type of person has not seen an “estate” before? what would it look like to them? would they be comfortable there? why were they there? 

I had originally written “the biggest goldfish she'd ever seen” and quickly scribbled it out because I thought it would be better to describe how big it was using something else - in this case, a loaf of bread. If I edited it, I would change it to bread loaf so it read a little better. Otherwise, this was a delightful exploration and I think I've learned a lot from it - including a few different things I could do better!
