I heart it beat its body against invisible glass and the optical illusion we call wall paint. I catch it resting near the fruit, the kitchen tap. It's on my ear drums, constantly reminding me its here. I push a nervous window open emploring the fly to find its freedom. An alret fly swat hunts for the illusive black speck. We both fail to track its path for the fly in my periphery doesn't exist. It skitters in my head and interrupts each word. It barrels through my motivation and lands upon chores undone.
I saw pest, but didn't want to talk about typical house pest-type scenarios and the first line I thought of was actually “the fly in my periphery doesn't exist”. The nuisance of a fly trapped in your house is one thing, but the nuisance of a fly in your head, interrupting, jarring, spinning, delaying. It's a pest. truly.
What pests do you deal with?
