Object Writing: Gin

Sweat beaded on my glass as the sun skimmed across the water leaping with the gentle litle of its waves. Taking a sip of the bubbly citrus and gin I smiled as the light winked at me. At how the breeze pressed back on the hum of warm air which had coated the day in its oppressive heat. I sank into the chatter lifting across the room. The warm greetings of each friend. Watching these private handshakes…

I ran out of time here, so left a space and continued after I turned off the timer…

Hands thrust forward with a welcome guffaw. Handshakes that came with a swift peck on the cheek. A handshake that was drawn into a dynamic hug, the embrace continuing as they each pulled away unwilling to let the other go.

And I could continue. I wanted to keep writing about these private handshakes. Of how every handshake looks the same until you really watch how it goes. The subtle lift of the mouth. The polite recognition in the eyes etc.

Oh, where the afternoon could have gone…
